Dolores McCuistion Carpenter, 67, of Big Spring, died on Wednesday, August 24, 2005, in an Abilene hospital. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 PM Saturday, August 27, 2005 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel, Big Spring, with Ralph Anderson, minister of Birdwell Lane Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.The family will receive friends Friday evening at the home.She was born on October 1, 1937, in Callahan County, Texas and married Ronnie A. McCuistion in 1955. He preceded her in death in 1966. In 1967, she married Joe Sharpnack and they divorced in 1976. She then married Lynrae Carpenter in 1979 and they lived together until her death.Dolores was a lifelong resident of Big Spring and graduated from Big Spring High School in 1955. She was El Rodeo Queen for 1954-1955. She had been a hairdresser for 30 years and had instructed at Howard College Cosmetology School. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, dancing and taking pictures.Dolores loved her family, especially her granchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Church of Christ and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge.Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Rockie and Anita Sharpnack, Russ McCuistion and Ronnie and Sharla McCuistion all of Abilene; her mother, Ida Mae Ward of Abilene; her sister, Jayne Jones of Eastland; her grandchildren, Jeramy McCuistion of Abilene, Jessica McCuistion of Sweetwater, Jason Wilson of Big Spring, Preston Sharpnack of Abilene, Joshua McCuistion of Abilene, Shawna McElyea of Abilene and Matt and Troy Harper both of Hamlin and one great grandchild, Kaleb Wilson of Big Spring. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Billy B. Cooke and a daughter-in-law, Cheryl McCuistion.
