Jean Welch of Midland, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, departed this world on Wednesday, September 9th, 2026 at the age of 87 years.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 18th, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch from 6pm to 8pm with graveside services to be held at 11am officiated by Pastor Jon Slayden at Serenity Memorial Gardens, located at 6800 TX-349, Midland, TX 79706.
Mrs. Welch was born December 25, 1938, to Clay and Delzean Wilson. She married the love of her life, Jim Welch, and was married for 52 years before he preceded her in death.
Jean worked as supervisor of school cafeterias for many years and upon retirement was asked to come back and consult for the new school kitchens being built.
Those left to cherish her memory are daughters Melody and husband David (Jop) Joplin of Kermit, TX; Kathy and husband Chuck Johnson of Fritch, TX; sons Jim E. Welch of Decatur, TX; and Clay and wife Lisa also of Decatur, TX.
She had grandchildren Meggan, Jacob and wife Kimberly, Madison and Jennifer along with fiancé Romero Cortez, Ashley and husband Brian White and Blake Johnson. She also had great grandchildren, a brother Claude and wife Polly Roles of Hatfield, AR and sister Liz and husband James Thompson of Springdale, AR along with nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jim Welch, mother Delzean and father Clay and brother Bobby.
Pall bearers will be grandchildren Meggan, Jacob, Jennifer, and Madison along with nephew Chris Kline and family friends Clayton White and Mike Hughes.
Music will be provided by granddaughter on violin accompanied by Erin and Bill Delavan playing her favorite “I Come to the Garden Alone” along with Randy and Brenda Burrell as singers.
We would like to thank everyone for thoughts and prayers. Also, a special thank you to John Orsak for helping take care of her these last couple of years.
