Doke W. Pierce, 88, of Big Spring, died on Friday, April 13, 2007, in a local hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, April 16, 2007 at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel with Rick Cunningham, minister of 14th and Main Church of Christ, officiating. He was born on November 2, 1918, in Baird, Texas and married Ann B. Waters on October 16, 1944 in Weatherford, Texas. She preceded him in death on June 22, 2005.Doke moved to Big Spring and went to work for Texas and Pacific Railroad on August 2, 1942. He started as a fireman and was promoted to locomotive engineer, retiring on May 31, 1983. He was a member of 14th and Main Church of Christ and a member of the United Transportation Union.Survivors include two sons, Donald (Don) Pierce of McKinney and Larry Pierce of Richmond, Virginia; one daughter, Barbara Mamoulides of Houston; two sisters, Adell Blakely and Frances Galloway both of Abilene; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Addie Pierce and three brothers, J. C. Pierce, Stanley Pierce and Granville Pierce.
