Diedra Carlene Cohlmia, 73, of Midland, TX, passed away at home on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024. A small Celebration of Life will be held by the family at a later date.
Carlene was born on October 29th, 1950, in Sweetwater, TX to Fred A. White and Freda Lee White. She grew up in Sweetwater and lived the majority of her adult life in Odessa, Midland, and Coke County. She embodied the spirit of West Texas and was strong in her faith, strong in her love and support of her family, and strong in her life views. She was independent, iron-willed, big-hearted, and a champion of those in need. She loved Jesus and attending church at Stonegate Fellowship with her grandsons. She was also a huge sports fan whose sports knowledge exceeded that of all other grandmothers. She was an avid Mojo fan of almost 50 years and amazingly transitioned into being a fan of the Lee Rebels in support of her grandsons. She could always be found in the bleachers at her grandsons’ baseball and football games and loved to watch her granddaughters’ equestrian events. Professionally, she was a long-time, well-respected member of the mortgage industry.
Carlene was a wonderful mother, grandmother, auntie, friend, and worker. She will be dearly missed.
Carlene is survived by her sons, Jack Cohlmia Jr. and wife Krista, Mack Cohlmia and wife Andrea, her sister and best friend, Jolene McWilliams and husband Mike, her four grandchildren, Jace, Jaiden, Kip, and Kynlee, her two nephews, John (Brooke) McWilliams and Jeff McWilliams, and her great niece, Murphy Rose McWilliams.
Carlene is preceded in death by her mother, Freda Reed Monroe, her father, Fred A. White, her maternal grandparents, Audley and Edrie Reed, and her paternal grandparents, Floyd and Neda Kiser.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider donating to their favorite charity.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences may be made at www.npwelch.com.
