Dicky Rivers Gatlin, of Midland, TX died Wednesday, October 29, 2025. Dicky was born on January 31, 1946, in Memphis, TX to Jimmy Hardy and Bessie Ann Gatlin. He was the youngest of eight children and was raised in Denver City, TX.
After graduating from high school, Dicky served in the United States Army. He then moved to Midland as a young adult and started a long career in the oil and gas industry. On January 24, 1970, he married the love of his life Donna Robey of Midland. They were married for a wonderful 54 years. Dicky spent as much time as he could on the golf course and enjoyed doting on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Most recently, he would tease his great-granddaughter, Hazelynn calling her “Lil Pest.” She would giggle and tell him he was a “Lil Pest” and he would beam with delight.
Dicky is preceded in death by his wife Donna, his parents, and his seven siblings. He is survived by his son, John Gatlin and wife Michelle of Summit, NC; daughter, Deborah Smith and husband Chad of Azle, TX; daughter, Melissa Clayton and husband Garrick of Midland, TX; grandchildren (great-grandchildren), Jordan Arras and wife Iris (Alvaro and Belle), Jared Arras and wife Cambree (Hazelynn), Hannah Roberts and husband Chucky (Mazikeen), Alyssa Clayton (Corbin), Jordan Clayton and wife MacKenzie (Kayden, MacKenlie, and Maizley), Taylor Bell, Josh Snider, Jeff Snider and wife Amanda (Sebastian), Mikala Snider, Jake Snider and wife Megan (Maylani and Ivy) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dicky will be missed more than words can be expressed by his family and friends.
Dicky will lie in state 8:00am-5:00pm, Saturday, November 1 through Monday, November 3, 2025 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral services have been scheduled for Tuesday, November 4th, 2025 at 12pm at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Gatlin, Jordan Arras, Jared Arras, Garrick Clayton, Chad Smith, Don Cheney, Monty Mansell, Mickey Sorrel and Phillip Sorrel.
