Diane Hough Brown, 92 of Midland, Texas peacefully passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025 at home. Diane was born March 26, 1932 in Knoxville, Tennessee to August E. (Bud) Hough and Emmaretta E. Hough. Her childhood was spent in Knoxville, Tennessee and Nelson, Georgia where she developed her lifelong southern charm. After moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma and attending The University of Tulsa, Diane joined Kappa Delta Sorority where she enjoyed many KD sisters during her lifetime of travels, and homes. In 1950 Diane married Robert P. (Bob) Scott, Sr. and traveled the country and the world as a Marathon Oil family in Oklahoma, Texas, Nebraska, Wyoming, New Mexico, and Ohio as well as in London, England; Dublin, Ireland; and Jakarta, Indonesia, all while being a loving mother of four children. She was always very much involved in her children’s lives, whether through PTA activities or Cub Scout and Brownies as a Den Mother or Brownie Leader. Diane was a lifelong Episcopalian, serving as the organist for the Church of the Epiphany in Houston and a member of The Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity in Midland where she served with the Altar Guild, substitute organist and volunteer in the office where she faithfully proofread the bulletin. Diane was a member of the Petroleum Club and loved hosting family and friends for special occasions.
Diane is preceded in death by her husband Jim Brown, and her parents. She is survived by sister Eben Appleton of Gallatin, Tn sons Bob Scott and wife Susan Bickley of Houston, Tx and Bill Scott and wife Sandy Scott of Midland, Tx; daughters Cathie Party and husband Mike of Midland, Tx and Merry Watson and husband Clyde of Midland, Tx; and stepson Jimmy Brown and wife Sally of Lubbock, Tx; 6 grandchildren, Brandee Baskerville and husband Mike of New Braunfels, Tx; Ashleigh Alexander and husband Jonathan of Cairo, Egypt; Lauren Blackketter and husband David of Midland, Tx; Michael Party and wife Anne of New York, NY; Rob Party and wife Lauren of Midland, TX and Scott Stanley and wife Roxanne of Midland, TX; and (7) great grandchildren, Chase Noll, Chandler Watkins, Reagan Blackketter, Hudson Alexander, Easton Alexander, Charlie Party and Harrison Party; and four great – great grandchildren.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Diane’s longtime care giver and friend, Marina Segovia and also to caregivers Amy Rios, Eva Chacon, and Cindy Gonzales and to Hospice of Midland.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am Tuesday, January 21st at The Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity in Midland. Interment will follow in the Columbarium at the church. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service in the Parish Hall. Memorials may be directed to the Endowment Fund, The Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity, Midland, TX or the charity of one’s choice.
