Dewey Byers, 78, of Big Spring, died Friday, March 15, 2013, at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.He was born October 2, 1934, in Big Spring, Texas and attended Big Spring schools, graduating in 1954. He worked for the City of Big Spring for 34 years, retiring as chief inspector. He loved to golf.Survivors include two brothers, Melvin Byers and wife, Shirley of Siloam Springs, Arkansas and James Byers and wife, Laverne of Kingsland; and numerous nieces & nephews. Dewey was preceded in death by his parents, James and Cleo Byers and two sisters, Bonnie Melton and Janetta Whetsel.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring. I was saddened to hear this news today. Dewey was a kind hearted man that always had a smile to share. He was a dear friend of my dads, Marvin Williams. They were buddies for as long as I can remember. I'd like to think they are sitting by a grand fishing hole and telling old stories. Prayers to Dewey's family. He will be missed.

My prayers are with you. Dewey was the most special man I ever knew and I'm so blessed that we had the last five years after a 46 year gap.
