From a young age, he was naturally athletic and loved fishing, later finding his true passion in working on cars, riding his motorcycle and racing on the dirt track. Quiet, incredibly smart, and warm-hearted, he often showed his love through his actions. He cared deeply for his siblings and was someone they could always depend on. He found the love of his life in Stacy Huffman, and together they were blessed with two children, Karli and Dillon, who meant the world to him.
Dereck was big into family time and spending time at the lake and racetracks. Dereck was the type of man who would give the shirt off of his back for anyone in need. He spent many years working in the oilfield industry and truly loved his coworkers and teaching and taking care of his crews.
Dereck is survived by his wife Stacy Courtney, daughter Karli Wilkerson and husband Ryan Wilkerson, son Dillon Courtney and wife Tera Courtney, siblings Kay Courtney, Karla Browne, Dolan Courtney, Misti Connally and husband Derek Connally, Dusty Courtney and wife Shawnda Courtney, three biological grandkids, Kayden Cacy, Korbin Cacy, and Bentlee Courtney, bonus grandkids Mathias Wilkerson, Aria Wilkerson, Tallyn Elliott, and Karli Elliot.
