Dereck Koby Wilson, 40, of Big Spring, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2024. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm, Friday, January 10, 2025 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm.

Dereck was born April 27, 1984 in Big Spring, Texas to parents David Lynn Wilson and Susan (Plowman) Wilson. He was a lifetime resident of Big Spring. He worked as a pumper in the oil and gas industry. He enjoyed fishing, Texas Rangers Baseball and hunting.

Dereck loved his girls and wife fiercely…his girls were his life. He enjoyed watching Kendyl and Kaley in basketball, soccer and softball. His smile and heart will be greatly missed. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Big Spring.

Dereck is survived by his wife Amber Wilson; children: Kendyl Wilson and Kaley Wilson; his mother Susan (Plowman) Wilson, all of Big Spring; brothers: Dustin Wilson (Johanna) of Astoria, New York; Seth Wilson (Lisa Barnes) of Big Spring; his grandma: Patricia Wilson Beverly of Granbury; in-laws: Ron Blackburn of Gunbarrel City, TX and Patricia Rupert of Wisconsin; sister-in-law: Amy Hooten (James) of Paris, TX; brother-in-law: Benny Irizarry of South lake, Texas and his nephews: Mateo, Marcos, Jonas and Graeson and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Dereck was preceded in death by his father: David Lynn Wilson, Papa: Bob Wilson and a sister-in-law: Heather Blackburn Irizarry.

Honorary pallbearers will be Seth Wilson, Donny Allan, Steven Pratt, Josh Bedwell, Brad Gillihan, Chance Wagnor, Josh Junkin, Justin Wilson and Craig Cantrell.

So many memories. The most recent is when we would see them at the girls softball games and soccer games. This past summer was the first time that he called me on my phone. He wanted to barter dark meat of a chicken for a pot of my Spainsh Rice. It was a deal! It made me happy to make him happy. He had the prettiest smile. We'll miss you! Love you, Aunt Joyce

My condolences to his family and friends 🙏🙏🙏. I met him though YouTube. He would comment on my videos and we exchanged phone numbers. Derek eventually went fishing at the beach with me and we had a blast. We talked about trusting Jesus as our Savior so I know he's in the best place in the universe.
