Denny Ray Wanner

Denny Ray Wanner, 47 of Big Spring, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023. A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Baptist Church Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.

Denny was born January 29, 1976, in Brownfield, Texas to David and Patsy Wanner. The family moved to Big Spring where he attended school, graduating from Big Spring High School in 1994. Denny learned the meaning of service to others very early in life while in Boy Scouts, eventually earning the rank of Eagle Scout. He carried this lesson throughout his life, often helping others before helping himself. Denny enjoyed spending time with family and friends and being outside working with his hands. He earned his LVN from Howard College, and his RN and BSN from Texas Tech University. Denny worked as a nurse at the Veteran’s Hospital and the Big Spring State Hospital until eventually going to work in the oilfields of West Texas.

Denny is survived by his wife of 24 years, Susan Wanner, daughter Elysia Wanner, son Evan Wanner, mother Patsy Wanner all of Big Spring; brother Chris Wanner and wife Jana of Lubbock; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Denny was preceded in death by his father, David Wanner, his uncle Robert Wanner, as well as both his paternal and maternal grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Denny’s name to the GriefShare program at Trinity Baptist Church, 1701 E. FM 700, Big Spring, Texas 79720.
