Della Louise Cassell of Midland Texas, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at the age of 78.
Louise was born in El Paso, TX on April 21, 1943. She spent her childhood in Marfa, TX and later moved to Pecos, TX where she made her most cherished memories including meeting her high school sweetheart Royce. They married in 1960 and were later blessed with two beautiful daughters.
Most people’s fondest memories of Louise were at the Reeves County Golf Course. She loved to play golf and spend time with her friends and family at the course. Louise would always be up for a card game or a trip to the Golden Nugget casino, where she said, ‘if I lived in Las Vegas, I would be a bag lady’. Louise was a great friend, but an even better Mema. Those that knew her understood that her family was the most important part of her life. In her eyes, her 5 grandchildren and dogs were perfect and never did anything wrong. She taught them how to golf, cook, sew and supported them through every milestone in their lives. She never missed one of her grandchild’s golf matches, volleyball, baseball or football games.
She was also a great cook whose families’ all-time favorites were her famous chocolate chip cookies, which she still never gave anyone all her secrets to the recipe. She loved watching sports, not once did you go by their house and a Texas Rangers game or golf was not on their TV.
You will be missed Mema but as you taught us, ‘we love you little, we love you big, we love you like a little pig!’
Louise is survived by her daughters Leslie McNeil and husband Jimbob, Lisa Duncan and husband Jeff, sister, Shirley Johnson and husband Jody, grandchildren, Taryn Smith and husband Jarett, Jordan Agar and husband Gary, Tyler Duncan and wife Nicole, Tanner Duncan, Tamra Fergerson and husband Zane and five great grandchildren, Suttyn, Sawyer, Penelope, Emerson, and Mila.
Louise is preceded in death by her husband Royce and parents Lionel and Dean Wheeler.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards Ashton Medical Lodge staff, Midland Memorial Hospital staff, Dr. Paul Slaughter, and Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Hospice Midland, 911 W Texas Avenue, Midland, TX 79701.
