Delbert Harrison Hopper, 81, of Stanton passed away on October 17, 2007. He was born October 14, 1926 in Coahoma, Texas to John H. and Lissie Ann Hopper. Delbert grew up in Coahoma, Lomax and Sterling City. He served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1947 earning the rank of Sargeant.Hopper owned and operated his own trucking business in Sterling City . He moved his family to Stanton in 1966, where he began his career as a cotton farmer until his retirement in 1991. He had great success in his business endeavors, but his greatest accomplishment was providing for his family. Pops was patient, kind and loving husband, father and grandfather.Services will be held Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church of Stanton. Officiating the services will be Rev. Daniel Armstrong and Pastor Jerry Berry. A visitation will be held on Friday from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton.Survivors include his wife, Jimmie Hopper of Stanton; daughter Lisa and husband Bruce Stanley of Midland; daughter Carolyn Hopper of Midland; granddaughter Amanda and husband Adam Binnix of Big Spring; granddaughter, Alaina Stanley of Fort Worth; granddaughter Kelly Stanley of Midland; grandson, Keith Stanley of Midland; brother, Allan and wife Laverne Hopper of Stanton; brother, Joe Hopper of Colorado City; and one great grandchild.
