Debra Kay Ambrose Van Stavern, of Midland, passed away on June 3, 2022 surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Friday, June 10, 2022 at Golf Course Road Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Debbie was born on November 7, 1953 to Patricia and Thomas Ambrose in Big Spring, Texas. She grew up in Odessa and graduated from Odessa High. After high school she attended Midland College and UTPB. Deb married James Van Stavern 47 years ago on August 3, 1974. In their early years, Debbie was a deaf interpreter at Odessa High for six years until Blade was born on December 26, 1977 and then Lauren on May 5, 1981. Deb devoted her time and energies into raising them with the same love for life that she had. Her house served as home base for all of Blade and Lauren’s friends. You couldn’t stop by without visiting Debbie’s well-loved candy bowl. She was a Junior League member, taught swim lessons, played tennis and was in the Groovy Grannies tap dance group. She was a member and President of the Symphony Guild for three years along with being a Coterie and Minuet member.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Pat Ambrose and her In-laws Earl and Ruby Van Stavern.
She is survived by her husband, James; her children, Blade and wife Dana, Lauren and husband Matt and four grandchildren who loved their Sassy: Bella, Halston, Everett and Eli; and two step grandkids.
