Deborah Louise Kapala, age 66 passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 11th, 2020 in Midland, TX.She was born on Tuesday, April 13th, 1954, in Detroit, MI to Maxwell & Alta Mae Dalton. She was a graduate of Mott High School Warren, MI in 1972. She married her soulmate James (Jim) Edward Kapala on April 5th, 1974 in Sterling Heights, MI. Together they had 3 children: Jaymie (James), 1975 Elizabeth, 1977 Nicholas, 1979 and lots of grandchildren. She was Busha to many and loved by everyone. She graduated from Odessa College with her associate degree and then continued at Sul Ross State University in Alpine for her bachelor’s degree and Certification to Teach in 1993, where she graduated with magna cum laude. She started teaching at Gonzales Elementary School in Odessa, TX. When she and Jim moved back to Michigan in 2000; she taught in Catholic Schools in both Eastpointe, MI and Grosse Pointe Woods, MI. She and Jim started the bowling program at Clintondale High School and ran it for five years where she loved all the students and staff. She also worked at CEO teaching life skills to disabled adults. She loved to teach! She spent her free time sewing for everyone she knew creating art masterpieces one at a time. Her family was her world….She is survived by her husband James (Jim) Kapala, her sister DeeDee Dalton-Witt & husband Tutte Witt from Nashville, TN and brother Michael Dalton & wife Kim Dalton from Joshua Tree, CA. Her children: Jaymie (James) from Clinton Twp, MI, Elizabeth & Darren from St. Clair Shores, MI, Nicholas & Shea from Odessa, TX. Her grandchildren: Cain, Ashlyn, Jeremy, Miranda, Sean, Wes, Shelbie, Samantha, Madison, J.D., Courtney, Natalie, and Anneliese.
