Daymon Lee Boyce, 76, of Gainesville formerly of Stanton, died on Wednesday, June 12, 2002 at his residence in Gainesville. Mr. Boyce's body will lie in state at Gilbreath Funeral Home Saturday, evening June 15, 2002 until the time of service on Sunday. Graveside funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, June 16, 2002 at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton with Rev. Robert Boyce nephew, officiating. Assisting will be Rev. David Harp, pastor of First Baptist Church Stanton. He was born on August 13, 1925 in Lelia Lake, Texas and married Allene Angel. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Mr. Boyce was a veteran of World War II having served in Panama as a member of the United States Navy. He was active in the Martin County American Legion Post, where had served for a number of years as a member of the post's ceremonial color guard. He was known to many residence of the Stanton and Martin County area as a grocer. Mr. Boyce had been retired for the past several years. He and his wife Allene had moved to Gainesville from Stanton two years ago. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Allene of Gainesville; a son and daughter-in-law, Rodger and Juddi Boyce of Gainesville; a sister, Lucy Dalton of Littlefield; a brother, Oliver Boyce of Stanton and three grandchildren, Brandon Boyce of Key West, Florida, Lauren Boyce of Gainesville, and Leila Bower of Galveston. He was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Boyce and two sisters, Retha Craig and Lillie Bea Smith. The family suggests memorials to Home Hospice of Cooke County, P.O.
