David Fawks, 92 of Midland, went home to be with the Lord on May 14, 2024. He was born on April 20, 1932 to Henry and Thelma Fawks in Cleburne, TX. He was brought up in Weatherford, TX helping his dad on a dairy farm. The family moved to Midland in 1948 and David finished his senior year at Midland High School in 1949. Shortly thereafter, he met the love of his life, Pauline Rasco, and on February 10, 1951 they were married. They were blessed with three children: Paul Fawks, Brenda Truelove and Celena Ivanitch. He is survived by his three children, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one sister, Virginia Crane.
In 1952 David was drafted into the US Army and served during the Korean conflict. After his two year obligation to his country, he then worked in the oil field around the Permian Basin. In 1960, he went to work for the Midland Fire Department and retired in 1985. During the last few years as a firefighter, he also was in the water well business and was a licensed state of Texas water well driller.
David loved to travel, so after 25 years with the fire department, he spent the next 9 years as an owner/operator of an 18-wheeler. Pauline went with him on some of the long hauls and together they went many miles and to so many interesting places. Finally in 1996 he swapped a truck for an RV. David and Pauline continued making trips for as long as they could. On May 14, 2024, David made his last trip. He went home.
He accepted Jesus Christ as Savior at a young age and was baptized at a Baptist church in Weatherford, TX.
