Knowing the bloodline in which David was born, no wonder he was the type person and the example he set. Dan Saunders was loved by all. I am sure David was and will be missed too. God bless the family, and may David RIP. Bob Lester..retired Midland Police Officer.

I met David in my brief stay in Stanton,he was my neighbor. I came to know him as a kind and gentle person with a big heart. I would come home from work at night and find him sitting on my porch drinking a beer.We would talk and have a few good laughs and he would go home.David left a big impression in my heart and I will truly always keep him there. I still have the book he gave to me that he wrote....

My thoughts and prayers are with your family as you experience the loss of a very special person. David had a passion for helping others and possessed a gentle spirit. His desire to serve as a law enforcement officer helped him to earn recognition as one of the best. My first opportunity to meet David came when we were 5 years old and my Grandmother Deck moved to Stanton to teach in the elementary school. She bought a house on 2nd Street just down from the Saunders' home. She told me often how David, Jimmy Epley and Jimmy Louder enjoyed "patroling" their neighborhood. Little did David and I realize we would become close friends during our high school years. We had a lot of conversations over a coke at the Dairy Treat. We shared a lot of laughter and even tears together over the years. David's laughter was an incredible gift. It came from deep within and made you feel good inside. The most memorable time of his laughter came one afternoon after a powder puff football practice. He and some other guys baked the best looking batch of brownies you have ever seen. After watching our first bites and getting the deserved "thank you" for such a special treat, they broke their silence about the laxative stirred into the brownie batter as they began laughing hard enough to bring tears. His incredible compassion shown toward me and my family when my Grandmother Deck died during our junior year in high school is a special memory I will always cherish. I can remember crying with him one summer afternoon during my college years following the memorial service for his grandparents when his heart was so heavy as he told me the great times they had shared together. Yes, David's presence will be greatly missed but his love for music, passion for law enforcement, gift of laughter and desire to help others will live in our book of memories forever.

My Deepest Sympathy to the Family and Friends, I am sadded to hear that David has passed away. I will remember him always as a good man, a kind man and a man passionate about law enforcement. He always set a great example for others in his field. I worked with him many many years ago, and never forgot the kindness and respect he gave me and others. Out of all the law enforcement people that I have ever met, David was truly gifted and one of a kind. The State of Texas lost a great example of what other Law Enforcement personel should strive for. You couldn't ask for a better friend if David called you his. Many Blessing to the Saunders children, I hope you feel comfort knowing that your father was so loved and respected. Rest In Peace my old friend.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
