David Andrew Moody, 53, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Waco, Texas, died June 18, 2019, at Oklahoma University Medical Center. A brief service will be held at noon Sunday, July 28, 2019, in the Bennett Garden at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 1001 S. Goliad St. The Rev. Christian Rabone will officiate.A reception will follow the service at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.David was born Nov. 23, 1965, to Robert and Mary Katherine Moody at a U.S. Army hospital in New Mexico. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Waco, Texas in 1984. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from UTPB in 2001 and his master’s degree in executive business from Colorado Technical University in Colorado Springs, Colo., in 2007.After high school, David enlisted in the U.S. Army and later joined the U.S. Army National Guard for a combined service of 27 years to his country. During his time in the National Guard, David was deployed to help with the relief efforts of Hurricane Katrina, and he served a tour of duty in Iraq. David also trained soldiers to prepare them for overseas deployment. As a civil servant, he was employed by the Army Air Force Exchange Services (AAFES) and was deployed for a tour of duty in Afghanistan as well as other overseas and in country stations for three years. He was currently employed by VCS at the Oklahoma City VA Hospital.David had the heart of a musician. He played bass guitar and keyboard. He was also known for his sense of humor, kindness, and bad puns. David was preceded in death by his parents.His is survived by his brother, John Moody of Big Spring; his sister, Lyndel Moody of Big Spring; two aunts, Sharon Cenky and her husband, Frank, and Lola Kambri, and her husband, Max; five cousins; and many friends including Michael Marlow and his daughters, Megan, Jaymie, and Leanne; Tony and Donna Salazar; and J.P. Burns.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to support a music program of choice to honor David’s memory.
