In Loving Memory of Darwin “Frosty” Wells Frost
May 16, 1958 – February 25, 2025
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Darwin, a devoted husband, loving father, proud papa, beloved brother, cherished uncle, and loyal friend. He left this world surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends.
Darwin was born to Lydia and Druce Frost on May 16, 1958, in Chula Vista, California. At a young age, he moved to Showlow, Arizona with his family. He spent his days working alongside his grandpa Penrod, learning the value of dedication, perseverance, love for hard work, and respect for the traditions that had been passed down through generations. As a young adult, he relocated to Midland, Texas, where he joined his brother. There he married and welcomed his daughter, Whitney, into the world. Later, he found love again and married Catherine, which brought two more daughters, Nichole and Samantha, into his life through this new union. During this time, he began his career with Budweiser, where he dedicated thirty-one years of his life. He retired from Budweiser in October of 2023.
Darwin was a man of deep integrity and warmth, always ready with a helping hand, a comforting word, or a smile that could brighten any room. He rarely met a stranger. His love for his family was evident in everything he did—through his gentle guidance, his quiet sacrifices, and the countless memories he created with those he held dear. Whether as a husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, or friend, he embraced each role with love and dedication.
He found great joy in the simple things that brought people together. Every June, he looked forward to attending the Penrod reunion, cherishing the time spent reconnecting with family and celebrating traditions. He had a passion for golf, finding peace and camaraderie on the course, where he enjoyed both the game and the friendships it nurtured. Whether he was spending time on the course with family or friends, perfecting his swing, or simply enjoying the beauty of a well-played round, golf was more than a hobby—it was his happy place.
He could find beauty in the smallest things, whether it was a breathtaking sunset, a quiet moment in nature, or the way the light hit the clouds just right. He had an appreciation for the world around him that made you slow down and see things through his eyes. But more than that, he had a way of finding the good in any situation. No matter how challenging the circumstances, he had a remarkable ability to help others find the silver lining. With his steady hand, reassuring words, and a sharp wit laced with sarcasm, he could make even the toughest moments seem more bearable. His optimism, patience, and quiet wisdom provided comfort to many who were fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his wife Catherine, daughters Samantha Trent (Hunter) and Whitney Walker (Phillip), ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Scott Frost, Bob Sippel, Lonnie Vaughan, and Pam McQueen. He was preceded in death by his parents Druce Frost, Lydia and Bob Sippel; daughter Nichole Diaz; brothers Ron Frost, Roger Frost, Ardel Frost, and Eldon Frost.
Darwin will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though our hearts ache at his absence, we take comfort in knowing that his love and legacy will live on in the lives he touched.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home where we will gather to honor the incredible person he was and the impact he made.
