Darrell Wayne Powers, 78, of Midland passed away on March 8, 2015. Funeral services will be held at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 2:00pm. Interment will be at Breckenridge Cemetery in Breckenridge, Texas on March 22, 2015 at 2:00pm.Darrell was born on August 9, 1936 in Breckenridge, Texas to Weldon and Vivian Powers. After graduating from Breckenridge High School, he received his Bachelor's degree from Abilene Christian College. The majority of Darrell's career was spent working for Union Oil in the land department. After retirement, he worked for MARC several years. He was a faithful member of Golf Course Road Church of Christ and was very close to his CARE group there. Darrell was also had numerous friends from his longtime membership at COM Aquatics. He will be fondly remembered by his many friends in Midland and Breckenridge.Darrell is preceded in death by his parents, Weldon and Vivian Powers.He is survived by his dear friend of forty-five years, Patsy Cummins, and his cousins, Louetha Hilliard of Midland, Texas and her son, Bradley Hilliard of Houston, William Powers and his wife, Vanda, of Midland, Texas, Bryan Powers of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Blair Powers and family of Algonquin, Illinois, Jeanne Grant of Prescott Valley, Arizona, and Judie Wolf of Los Angeles, California.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you contribute to the memory of Darrell’s love for animals by making contributions to the City of Midland Animal Shelter at 1200 North Fairgrounds Road, Midland, Texas 79706 or to the ASPCA at www.aspca.org.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
