Darla Jean Shepherd Haislip, who loved to be called Nonna and Mama by her kids and grandkids, departed her loving family on September 11th 2021 at Midland Memorial Hospital. The family will receive guest from 6:00pm – 8:00pm, Friday, September 17, 2021 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel.
Darla was born in Springhill Louisiana on May 16th, 1956 to Leon and Darline Shepherd. Darla was mother to Nathan L Moore (Wendy Moore, spouse), Tommy H. Moore (Cheryl Moore, spouse), Darla Rene Nichols (Rusty Nichols, spouse), and Christina B. Moore. As a nurse, Darla was known for graduating at the top of her class as Valedictorian from the Midland College Nursing Program in 1983. She spent most of her career as a nurse at Midland Memorial Hospital and Health South Hospital in Midland, Texas. Darla was widowed in 2001 when her husband, Eddie G. Haislip, passed.
Darla is preceded in death by her father, Leon Shepherd in 1967 at the age of 10. She is also preceded in death by her mother, Esther Darline Crabtree in 2018.
Darla is survived by her four children, along with their spouses. She is also survived by her grandchildren, whom were her entire world. They are Cheyenne Ledford, Krista Willis, Madeline Moore, Kaitlin Moore, Kade Moore, Kannan Moore, Peyton Nichols, Kristopher Rogers, Bella Nichols, Kasen Moore and Landan Moore. Darla is also survived by her loving stepfather James A. Crabtree, her brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Tena Shepherd, her sisters and their spouses, Brenda and Richard Reece, and Terry and Ty Bowling, brother Joseph Mason and sister, Anne Stephens of Hendersonville Tennessee; Darla’s husband of 15 years and the father to her children and dear friend, Buddy Moore of Minden, Louisiana and her cousin and best friend in life, Genie Shepherd. There are no words to express what she meant to us and she will be forever missed.
