Judge Dan Dane, 71, of Midland passed away on Monday March 14, 2016. Memorial services will be held at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel at 3:00 pm Thursday, March 17, 2016.Judge Dane was born on July 28, 1944 in El Paso, TX to Gene and Ruth Dane. He grew up in Deming, NM where he was a drum major for the marching band, but also played in a dance band and with a small group of friends. His extraordinary ethics were exemplified early on as he peddled doughnuts from his father's bakery to help support the family. This led him to earn his undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of NM followed by his Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas. Shortly afterward he reported for military duty with the U.S. Army, having been drafted as a JAG officer in the Vietnam War. He served in this role through the fall of Saigon, barely escaping harm.Upon his return, Judge Dane began a successful private law practice in Forrest City, AR. In the mid-1980's he was elected Prosecuting Attorney for the 1st Congressional District of Arkansas. He then worked for the FDIC, and while fulfilling that role received his appointment as a Federal Judge from Janet Reno. He served in this capacity until the time of his death.Judge Dane loved and played music throughout his life, often entertaining gatherings with his ever present harmonica. He was a published author, and enjoyed being outdoors. He was an active member of Redeemer Christian Fellowship and diligent in his service to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.He is survived by his wife, Amy, of Midland; son and daughter-in-law, Gene & Kelley Dane of Kempner, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Natalia & Joseph Stankus of Williamsburg, VA; and son, Brandon Dane of Ft. Myers, FL; 3 grandchildren, Kaylee Crain of Dover, DE and Kelsey & Ryan Dane of Kempner, TX; his sister, Betty Newman of Albuquerque, NM; and sister and brother-in-law, Nina & Nelson Welch of Rio Rancho, NM; along with many other family members and life-long friends.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, www.donatenow.heart.org/,
