Cynthia Schaffer, 59, of Big Spring, died on Saturday, September 29, 2007, in a Lubbock Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel Big Spring with Rev. Agustin Ypina, with First United Methodist Church officiating. Graveside funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at Union Cemetery near Durango, TexasThe family will receive friends from 6 PM to 8 PM Monday at the funeral home.She was born on January 18, 1948, in Waco, Texas.She came to Big Spring as a young girl and graduated from Big Spring High School in 1966. She received her Bachelors Degree in Elementery Education from Texas Tech University and her Masters Degree in Bi-Lingual Education from Sul Ross University. Cynthia taught kindergarten at Lakeview Elementary and at the Kindergarten Center for many years. She volunteered at Kentwood Elementary after retiring and also volunteered at the Chalet, Hanger 25 Mueseum and the Kids Club program.She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church.Survivors include a daughter & son-in-law, Kim Schaffer Franco and husband, Filomeno of Cedar Park; three granddaughter, Kaydra Franco of Lubbock, Kaymi Franco and Kaya Franco both of Cedar Park.She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Glenna Rogers Ritenour.The family suggest memorials to the First United Methodist Church, 400 Scurry, Big Spring, Texas 79720 or to the American Diabetes Association, Midland Office, 10 Desta Drive, Suite 220E, Midland, Texas 79705.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
