Cynthia Lynn “Nana” Weis
November 1, 1948 – September 16, 2026
For years, Cynthia Lynn Weis began each morning with Bible study and a very direct question for the Lord: “When can I come join You?”
Cynthia’s faith was steadfast, and she looked forward to walking with Jesus in Heaven. On September 16, 2026, at the age of 77, the answer she had been waiting for finally came: it was time to go home.
Born on November 1, 1948, in Gary, Indiana, Cynthia moved with her family to Midland, Texas, as a child. She lived the rest of her life in Midland, building a life centered on faith, family, hard work, beautiful flowers, good books, scary movies, and plenty of firmly held opinions.
Cynthia spent her career working for Blue Cross Blue Shield. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her two daughters, Kimberly Weis Kelley and Christy Paige Weis. She was a talented and creative woman who loved sewing, painting, and tending to her beautiful yard and garden.
Known best as “Nana,” Cynthia was enormously proud of her grandchildren: Blake Kelley, Blaire Kelley, Lindsey Beth Kelley, Keifer Rippee, Presley Rippee, Payton Rippee, and Emerie Rippee; and her great-grandchildren: Lily Rippee, Knox Rippee, Oaklee Rippee, Leuk, Levi, Laurel, Archer, Lily, and Theo. Each of them carries a piece of her strength, humor, determination, and, quite possibly, her ability to form an opinion before everyone else had finished speaking.
She loved reading and would rarely turn down a good thriller. She loved listening to the oldies, and while she possessed absolutely no rhythm, that never stopped her from dancing. She moved entirely to her own beat—sometimes several beats away from the actual music—and enjoyed every second of it.
Beneath all the humor, strength, creativity, and stubbornness was a woman with an unwavering love for the Lord. Her faith was not reserved for Sundays; it was part of her daily life. She read her Bible each morning, trusted God deeply, and looked forward to the day she would walk with Jesus in Heaven.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her mother, Blanche Christy; her father, Robert Christy; and her brother, Charles Christy.
She leaves behind her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and all those fortunate enough to have been loved, advised, corrected, entertained, or lovingly bossed around by her.
Her family will miss her laughter, her creativity, her beautiful yard, her offbeat dancing, her strength, and her fierce love.
We imagine Cynthia arriving in Heaven with an oldies song playing, a thriller waiting on the nightstand, a cold Dr Pepper within reach, and a garden she has already decided needs a little work. She is finally home with the Lord she loved.
