Curtis Baker, 78, of Midland, died on Saturday, July 17, 2004, in a Big Spring hospital. Graveside services will be held at 9:00 AM Tuesday, July 20, 2004. at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland with Rev. Bob Porterfield officiating. Mr. Baker was born on March 15, 1926, in Lynn Co. He was a Baptist.Mr. Baker was raised in Lamesa, and moved to Midland after serving in World War II, where he received a Purple Heart in the Pacific Theater. Curtis was a lifetime member of the VFW. He was a self employed painter for many years.Survivors include: one daughter; Denise Baker of Mathis; five sons; Jim Mahurin of Slayton, Greg Baker of Watauga, Ricky Baker of Athens, and Ray and Darwin Baker of Midland; one brother, Bill Baker of Midland. He was also survived by eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, five brothers and three sisters.,
