More than a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend Cris Calvert Withers embodied a generous heart and a deep love of people. Cris was born on March 26, 1969. Her sense of deep roots, family, and community come from her hometown of Turkey, Texas. She is survived by her husband of 24 years Brent Withers; her daughters Brooke Withers and Nickelynn Bright; son in law Shane Bright; grandson Jace Bright; mother and father Ray and Wanda Calvert; her brother Chad Calvert; and other beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Her faith in God carried her to her heavenly home on Saturday, January 2, 2016 where she heard, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”Besides her deep love for Jesus, Cris passionately pursued friendships, theatre, kids, and her profession. Cris always listened to people, never left anyone out, and welcomed everyone. A devoted One Act participant and spectator, Cris had an appreciation for the theatre. Her artistic ability carried into her role as a realtor. Cris’ talent to sell not a house but a home endeared her to fellow realtors and clients. Many homes throughout the Permian Basin are graced with her unique hand-made crosses. Above all her two daughters, Nickelynn and Brooke, were her pride and joy, but every child was important to Cris. She took great effort to encourage them, make them feel special, and verbally expressed her love for them. Cris created a home and sold homes, but she felt most at home among her church family at Fellowship Baptist Church. The onset of her illness brought out her remarkable strength and courage for the true meaning of life; physically she declined but spiritually she thrived. A changed life changes lives. From the Withers' home comes an eternal gratitude for each of your generous outpourings of sympathy. A special appreciation to Dr. PK Patel, Midland Memorial Hospital and the countless nurses, respiratory therapists, and physical therapists who cared for Cris.Celebrate Cris’ homecoming with us on Saturday, January 9, 2016 2:00 pm at Greenwood Baptist Church in Midland, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the building fund of Fellowship Baptist Church of Greenwood at 10700 FM 307 Midland, Texas 79706.,
