Was a special guy. He was a true and faithful Big Spring Steer. He was a great leader and a friend to the kids. And he tolerated my son and his friends with a laugh. We have enjoyed talking to him over the years since his retirement. Always busy; now rest in peace.

Craig was a special person in my life. So many memories of him and his family flood my mind! I know how much he loved to travel; therefore I think God may have him fill the roll in Heaven as a tour director! I so enjoyed his many stories of his trips! The last time I saw Craig in San Antonio, he shared the song he wanted sung at his service. He sung the song in his tired voice and I wept. I knew then it was goodbye. A reunion with family and friends in Heaven will be joyful!

It got to the point, in 85 or so, where I'd walk into Mr. Fischer's office and he'd offer me 'licks or detention," sometimes without even asking what I'd done to bring me to his office. I wish he could have known the change I made in my life, later on. I never thought ill of him, as he was doing what needed to be done. As I sit here and read his obituary, I think even more of him now. Rest well, Mr. Fischer!

Mr. Fischer, I will never forget our trips in the summers to different places and the experience of always stopping at the historical markers along the way. You were a very kind soul. May God bless your family. Until we meet again.

Great story — he used to excuse our absences when we were out playing in bars on Friday nights in Odessa. One time Mark McKinney and I went over to his house and explained, “Hey, we’re making money — this is our job.” What principal would’ve done that? Loved him ever since. I can still hear him on the intercom: “Go Steers!” Godspeed, Mr. Fischer.
