Corrine Luther was called home on June 7, 2013 surrounded by her three loving daughters who had the honor to care for her during her last days. Corrine Covington was born on June 17, 1920 in Wister, OK to Eunice and Fonzo Covington. She grew up in Oklahoma with four brothers and four sisters. Corrine graduated from Washington High School in 1937. After graduation she moved to Texas, eventually settling in San Antonio, TX working as a model and jewelry buyer. During her time in San Antonio she met Herman Joe Luther, a veteran of World War II. On March 6, 1948 they married at Travis Park Methodist Church. After their marriage, the couple moved to Austin so Joe could attain his degree in Geology from the University of Texas at Austin. As Joe worked as a geologist for Chevron, the couple lived in numerous towns across the state. After transferring to Snyder, TX, Corrine gave birth to three daughters, Cheree, Sheila, and Lisa. In 1967, the family was transferred to Midland, TX. In Midland she opened The House of Koscot in Dellwood Mall, which she owned until the mid-1970s. Corrine continued to work in the retail business until her grandchildren began arriving. After the birth of her grandchildren, Corrine dedicated her time to caring for her family. Corrine was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, three sisters, and her beloved husband Joe Luther. She is survived by her sister Nettie Brockhaus of Noble, OK, her brother Burl Covington of Whittier, CA, her daughters, Cheree Smith (Billy) of Midland, TX, Sheila McCright (Dan) of Midland, TX, and Lisa Stooks (Russ) of Prescott Valley, AZ; nine grandchildren, Michelle Boyce, Jessica Smith, Natalie Nolen, and Travis Smith of Midland, TX, Shane Freeman of Dallas, TX, Brent Boyce of Fort Worth, TX, Amber Jolley of Phoenix, AZ, Cody Jolley of Flagstaff, AZ, and Blake Boyce of Oklahoma City, OK. She is also survived by sixteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.The family wishes to thank Hospice of Midland, Janell Yarger (caregiver) of Weatherford, TX and special thanks to her longtime physician, Dr. Gregory Bartha of Midland. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 12 at St. Lukes Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers are Billy Smith, Dan McCright, Russ Stooks, Shane Freeman, Brent Boyce, Cody Jolley, Blake Boyce, and Travis Smith. A visitation with the family is scheduled from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 11 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
