Corporal Andy Gene Glenn, 24, of Midland, Texas passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2007, while serving in the United States Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 29, 2007 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home, 3800 North Big Spring Street, in Midland. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, March 30, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Midland with Rev. Bill Crane and Rev. Doug Lamb officiating. Pallbearers will be the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Dulin, USMC Lcpl. Doug Wohleking, USMC Lcpl. Chet Thatcher, Jeremy Glenn, Archie Chamness, Curtis Chamness, Thomas Minihan, III, Jeremy Dowd, Zack Prbgen, USMC Cpl. Eric Owen, USMC Sgt. Octavio Lopez, Chad Mobley, Robby Bowen, Shane Meyers, Justin Williams, Chris, Casey, and Jonny Rockwell, Navy Corpsman Kennedy "Doc" Siaw, Stetson Chamness, Tim and Jeff Cary, and the 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines.Andy was born August 19, 1982 in Midland, where he was raised until moving to Arlington, Texas, where he attended Martin High School. After graduation, Andy returned to Midland where he attended Midland College and worked, before joining the United States Marine Corps. Andy completed his basic training on June 10, 2005 and graduated second in the Company, with honor of Series Honor Man. Andy was soon after deployed to the Iraq War, where he completed his first tour of duty in September 2006. Andy was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Billy Joe Glenn and Archie Chamness.Andy is survived by his wife: Shannan Raye Minihan Glenn; father: David Glenn and wife Shawn of Midland; mother: Mary Helen Glenn of Midland; sisters: Emily Glenn, Britni and Kassie Thompson, all of Midland; brothers: Zack and Josh Boyd of Cisco, Trent, Cody and Trey Thompson, all of Midland; niece: Joleigh Glenn of Midland; grandmothers: Phyllis Glenn of Sargent and Doris Chamness of Fort Worth; uncles: Michael Glenn and wife Charlotte of Midland; Mark Chamness and wife Rhonda of Midland; Robin Chamness of Austin, Randy Chamness of Abilene, Kelly Chamness and wife Cindy of Azel; aunts: Janet Glenn of Houston, Francis Forbes and husband of Fort Worth, Janis Rockwell and husband Mike of Arlington, Debbie Cary and husband Wayne of Arlington, Gayle Williams and husband Jerry of Trent, Becky Thompson and husband Ernest of Austin; and many loved cousins.
