Cordie Oaks

Cordie Oaks, 97, of Ackerly, died on Wednesday, February 9, 2005, in a local hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, February 11, 2005 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with Billy Garrett Reed, officiating.She was born on November 30, 1907, in Whitt, Texas and married Edd Oaks on December 25, 1928 in Ackerly, Texas. He preceded her in death on August 17, 1971.Mrs. Oaks moved to Ackerly in December 1923 with her family. She and her late husband had farmed in the Ackerly area for many years. She loved to spend time searching for arrowheads and reading. She was a Methodist and sang in the church choir.Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Gracie and Bill Brown of Ackerly; one sister, Inez Bearden of Big Spring; one grandson, Terry Brown of Ackerly; two great grandchildren, Billy Bob Brown and D'Nae Acevedo both of Lubbock; three great great grandchildren, Colten Acevedo, Ashlyn Acevedo and Lauren Grace Reyna all of Lubbock.
