Connie S. Washington, 99, of Big Spring, died on Saturday, June 19, 2004, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, June 21, 2004 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Big Spring with Dr. Claude Craven, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.She was born on June 29, 1904, in Baird, Texas and married Willie Orion Washington on March 8, 1930 in Lamesa, Texas. He preceded her in death on December 23, 1993.She came to Big Spring as a young girl and had worked as a sales clerk at Hemphill Wells Department Store for 9 years.Mrs. Washington had been a member of the First Baptist Church for over 60 years. She was also a member of the Eager Beaver Sewing Club and had over 100 hours of volunteer service at the Veterans Administration Medical Center.Survivors include three daughters & sons-in-law, Sonya and Bill Swindell of Big Spring, Carolyn Sue and Bob Touchstone of Midland, and Glenda Beth & Robert Mahoney of Arlington; six grandchildren, Patti Adams and Donna Thurman both of Big Spring, Leslie Strickland of Odessa, Laurie Hall of Midland, Holly Huffman of Arlington, and Scott Mahoney of Littleton, Colorado; 13 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; and a special friend, Jean Williams.Grandsons will serve as pallbearers, Ricky Adams, Scott Mahoney, Kelly Huffman, Austin Adams, Jeremy Strickland, Garrett Hall and Casey Taylor.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
