Clyde David Scott, 65, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 17, 1961, in San Angelo, Texas, to Dena and Orlen Scott.
Clyde spent much of his life in West Texas and South Texas, living in Odessa, Corpus Christi, Andrews, and Midland. He built a long career in the oil and gas industry, working as an automation analyst. He was the kind of person who could figure out just about anything. A true jack of all trades, Clyde was never one to call someone else for help if he could figure it out himself. If something needed fixing, building, understanding, or getting done, he would find a way.
Clyde was a straightforward, black-and-white kind of man. You always knew where you stood with him, and you always knew what he believed. He worked hard, took pride in doing things right, and had little interest in making something more complicated than it needed to be.
One of Clyde’s greatest passions was sporting clay shooting. He loved the sport, the challenge, and the time spent outdoors. It was something he truly enjoyed and a part of his life that brought him a great deal of happiness.
Clyde was married to the love of his life, Lyn, for more than 42 years. Together they built a life and raised their two children, Ryan and Lynsie.
He is survived by his wife, Lyn Scott; his son, Ryan Scott, and his wife, Kaitlyn, of Montgomery, Texas; his daughter, Lynsie Morgan, and her husband, Nick, of Midland, Texas; his grandchildren, Calvin and Shelby Morgan, and his granddaughter, Madilyn Scott. Madilyn was born on Clyde’s birthday, August 17, 2026. Although Clyde never had the opportunity to meet her, her sharing of his birthday will forever be a special connection between them.
He is also survived by his sister, Helen Hanson of Katy, Texas, along with extended family and many friends who knew and loved him.
Clyde will be remembered as a hardworking husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend; as a man who believed in doing things himself and standing firmly by what he believed; and as someone who could look at a problem and simply say, in his own way, “I’ll figure it out.”
His family will miss his presence, his straightforward nature, his knowledge, his stubborn determination, and all the little things that made him who he was. Most of all, they will miss simply having him here.
Clyde lived his life his own way, loved his family deeply, and left behind a lifetime of memories that will stay with them forever.
A memorial service celebrating Clyde’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026, at First Methodist Chapel.
