Clayton Brent Kirkland, 34, passed away from his earthly home into the arms of Jesus, on April 28, 2016. He passed away wrapped in the arms of a family that loved him dearly. The celebration of Clayton’s life will be held at Stonegate Fellowship on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 10:00am.Clayton was born on April 15, 1982, in Monahans, TX to Terry and Gayla Kirkland, who survive him. He is survived by brother, Robby Kirkland, and brother, Dustin Kirkland and his wife, Kim. He is survived by one nephew, Xander Kirkland, who brought a smile to his face like no other. He is also survived by uncles, Bill Purser (LaDona) of Odessa, TX, and Robert Purser (Sherrie), of Odessa, TX. His surviving aunts are Donna Cook of Los Angeles, CA. Sherry Chubirka (Dennis), of Houston, TX, and Rhonda Thebeau (Bob), of San Angelo, TX. He also leaves behind some very special cousins, Jason Tolbert, Kevin Chubirka and Shawn Wells. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Cecile and Kenneth Purser, and paternal grandparents, Louise and Raymond Kirkland. He was a devoted Christian spirit, a gentle and caring soul. Although he fought so many medical battles in his life, he was always more concerned about those around him. He dearly, dearly loved his family and his friends. He was the first one by your side when you had a need. He was a big kid, loving toys even as an adult. Children flocked to him because of this childlike attitude, yo-yos, fireworks, swordfights, watching cartoons and laughing out loud. His favorite playmates were his nephew, Xander, and his little cousins Sadie and Jobie. Clayton was raised in Monahans, TX and graduated from Monahans High School in 2000. Clayton worked for TXDOT, had a drafting degree, and was a bass fisherman. He enjoyed reading devotionals and his Bible. He was the ultimate optimist. The family would like to express gratitude to the many doctors and nurses who assisted him over the many years of care. Most notably his childhood oncologist, Dr. Paul Bowman of Fort Worth, TX and his family physician since birth, Dr. William Davidson of Monahans, TX. To the many wonderful friends who stood by him, you will never know how very much you meant to him.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to:Cook Children’s Hospital, Hematology and Oncology Department, Attn: Glenna Stone, Director, 1500 Cooper Street, 5th Floor, Fort Worth, TX 76104 ,
