Claude Irvin Jewett, Jr was born on July 20, 1946 to Claude Jewett and Betty Jewett. He grew up in Missouri and South Dakota. After graduating high school he followed his first calling to serve the Nation that he loved by joining the U.S. Air Force at his first duty station in Abilene, Texas as an Aerospace Ground Equipment Repairman. He was then promoted to a supervisor because of his skills and dedication and from there to Crew Chief. Later he also served as a Supply Supervisor, Quality Assurance Inspector, and finally a Procurement Officer. After 25 years of dedicated service, including 3 tours in Vietnam, he was honorably discharged after achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. While serving, he met Johnnie Doylene Carter and the two wed. He was able to travel to such places as Iceland, Philippines, Greece, Missouri and the great state of Texas where he spent the remainder of his life until his passing.
After retirement he explored his fascination of photography by opening a studio in Missouri. He often used his children, grandchildren, friends and family members as the center of his art. He entered several of his photos in local fairs and competitions and received recognition and awards. He hung these pictures with pride in his home. After moving from Missouri he relocated his family to Austin where he worked for the University of Texas in the Transportation Department. His love of photography led him to Midland, Texas where he worked for the City of Midland for 15 years in Crime Scene Investigation then Vehicle Services where he was in charge of repairing and maintaining the vital equipment of the first responders such as police cars and ambulances. He acquired and ran Ace’s Pro Shop at the Bowling Alley where he also started the Holy Rollers Bowling League where all benefits went to charity. At the time of his passing he worked at the YMCA driving the children safely to and from their activities. He was a man of many talents and trades with a fantastic knowledge of vehicles and love of art. His advice will be greatly missed as will his quiet wit and unique sense of humor.
Though his work duties were ever changing he remained a constant and faithful servant of the Lord.
