Clark Daniel Swanner

Our beloved son Clark Daniel Swanner passed away on Sunday June 24, 2012 at the age of 20. The family will receive friends at Nalley-Pickle & Welch funeral home on Wednesday June 27, 2012 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday June 28, 2012 at Golf Course Road Church of Christ with Tim Baugh and Terry Creech officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.Clark was born on September 29, 1991 in Lancaster, California to Dan and Tina Swanner. The first born of twin sons, he will be remembered for how he cared for his many friends, and always tried to be a positive influence to them. He was raised in Midland, Texas and attended Golf Course Road Church of Christ. He was blessed with the opportunity to serve on several mission trips. These included one to McAllen, TX where he built homes for a week, and one to Galveston, TX where he aided in disaster relief after hurricane Ike. Clark was an incredibly gifted young man who planned to major in either mechanical or petroleum engineering at Texas Tech. He had been completing his freshman and sophomore years at Midland College. He worked for Smith Pipe and Tuboscope doing welding, repairs, and new plant assembly. He loved his work and learned a great deal from it. He was very eager to get to Tech and begin the true study of engineering. Clark graduated from Midland High School in 2010 as a member of the National Honor Society.Clark was an avid athlete. He loved baseball, football, soccer, golf, water sports, and snow skiing. He and his dad were able to go snow skiing this past winter on two "guy" trips. The family loved camping with Clark and went on numerous trailer camping trips across Texas and New Mexico as the kids were growing up. He loved working out and stayed in excellent condition. His favorite sport was baseball. He managed to be a starter on almost every single baseball team he was a member of. He made the Midland High baseball teams as a freshman and led his teams in many categories. He was blessed with a strong arm as a third baseman and outfielder. He was known for his strong work ethic and his cool, calm leadership. He normally batted "clean-up," hitting many home runs throughout his career. His junior year he had two home runs against Lubbock High in the same game, and pitched a two hitter through five innings against Lee High. He ended the season leading the team with six home runs. He was proud to contribute to Midland High winning district championship his junior and senior years. He absolutely loved his baseball. Clark was simply an All- Star. There wasn't much Clark wouldn't do for his many friends, as he was known for always having their backs. But foremost he was our son, our brother in Christ, and our friend. May God rest your soul. He is survived by his loving parents, Dan and Tina Swanner, twin brother Cole of Midland, TX, sister Natalie Swanner of Wichita, KS, grandparents W.D. (Tiny) and Helen Mason, and O'Neil and Bettye Ryan all of Midland, TX, as well as extended family and friends.In lieu of flowers, the Swanners request donations to Christian Homes of Abilene or Palmer Drug Abuse Program.
