Clarice Selman Ogle, 97, long time Brewster County pioneer passed away May 20, 2006 at the Valley Care Nursing Home, Alpine. A Celebration of her Home Going will be held June 1, at ten a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Alpine. She was born May 4, 1909 in Fountain Hill, AR to Florence and David Selman. She came to West Texas as a teacher in a one room house in 1927. She taught several years, then married Ray Ogle, a cowboy and rancher. They ranched in that county until 1947 when they moved to Deming, NM, then to Old Mexico under the Aftosa Program. Clarice returned to Alpine in 1988 after Ray's death in Oregon, where they farmed and ranched. She is preceded in death by Ray in 1972 and infant son Sam in 1935. She is survived by her children, Betty Ray Baker of Ft. Davis, Margaret and Ted Bumpas, of Alpine, , Pat and Sandy of San Diego, CA and Mike of Baker, OR. She is also survived by nineteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson, plus many nieces and nephews. Although she loved flowers dearly, the family requests donations be made to your favorite charity or to the Tub Fund at Valley Care Nursing Home. Her children had just given the home a walk-in-bath tub for the convenience of all who live there. She was able to use it one time. The Center is looking for donations for another one to take care of all the guests.,
