Clarence Murray, Jr., 82, of Midland, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2016 in Midland. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 24, 2016 from 3:00-5:00PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Monday, January 25, 2016 at 1:00PM at Restland Cemetery in Gatesville, TX. Celebration services will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 2:00PM at Crestview Baptist Church in Midland.Clarence was born on September 15, 1933 to Clarence Murray, Sr., and Margaret (Annie) South in Gatesville, TX. He graduated from Gatesville High School and went on to Texas A&M where he graduated (class of ‘55) and received Masters in Petroleum Engineering. He married Martha Elizabeth (Betty) Bauman on June 9, 1956 at First Baptist Church in Gatesville. Clarence worked in the oil industry as an engineer before becoming an entrepreneur, until he retired. Clarence enjoyed sunsets, wildflowers, outdoors, and working in his shop. He was a very kind and loving man and loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. Clarence was an A&M Corp Cadet 51-55, Commissioned 2nd Lt. May 1955, Active Duty Armor Ft Knox, KY Aug 1958-Jan 1959, Commander 1st Lt. reserve Active Duty 49th Armor Ft. Polk, LA August 1961-Discharged Aug 1962.He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Martha (Betty) Murray of Midland; daughter, Kathy Harrison and husband, Jim of Midland; daughter, Becky McCraney and husband, Mark of Midland; son, Tim Murray and wife, Angela of Amarillo; daughter, Jennifer Sharrick and husband, Paul of San Antonio; 17 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and one on the way; sister Annabel Turner of Gallatin, Tennessee; and numerous cousins, nieces & nephewsHe is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Murray, Sr., and Margaret (Annie); two sisters, Alma Louise Martin, and Betty Kate Leathers; and one grandchild, Dillon Clark Murray.In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be donated to Crestview Baptist Church Forward by Faith Building Fund, 301 N Loop 250 West, Midland TX 79703, crestview.church/donate, Hospice Midland, PO Box 2621, Midland, TX 79702, Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, 4801 La Crosse Ave, Austin, TX 78739, give.wildflower.org. ,
