Clara Marie (Shoemaker) Clements, age 92, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 4, 2020, and after a few short hours her soulmate, Eugene Fields Clements, age 93, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020, as they joined each other to spend eternity in Heaven. Graveside Services for Clara and Eugene will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at Resthaven Memorial Park, Midland with David Harp officiating. Services are under the direction of Gilbreath Funeral Home. Clara (Shoemaker) Clements was born on February 25, 1928, to Kyle and Laura (Snodgrass) Shoemaker in Courtney, Texas. Eugene Fields Clements was born on March 26, 1927, to Willie W. and Mayme (Hood) Clements in Courtney, Texas. Eugene and Clara met when they attended grade school and became childhood sweethearts. They married on June 29, 1946, and just celebrated their 74th anniversary together. They were affectionately known as Nanny and Pop by their grandsons and great-grandkids. They are survived by their 2 daughters and their husbands, Beverly Ritter and Carl of Stanton, Cyndi Pate and Jimmy of Comanche; 5 grandsons, Jeramy Byford and wife Deanna of Tulsa, OK, Jammy Pate and wife Julia of Comanche, Jason Pate and wife Niki of Comanche, Jody Pate and fiancé Natasha of Brownwood, Jeffrey Pate and wife Audra of Bluff Dale; great-grandchildren: Jaret, Jaton, Jalee, Jaclyn, Jenna, Jordyn, Brayden, Claire, Travis, Jaxson and Jetson. Clara is also survived by her sister, Shirley Connell; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Shoemaker. Eugene is also survived by a sister, Mary Edith Harrison. They are both survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Kyle and Laura Shoemaker; brother, L.R. Shoemaker; and brother-in-law, Duane Connell. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Mayme Clements; 3 brothers, Herma Clements and his wife Ola, Bill Clements and his wife Velma, M.L. Clements and his wife Joyce; one sister, Lorina Smith and her husband John; and brother-in-law, Marvin Harrison. Arrangements are by Gilbreath Funeral Home.
