God had sent us an angel, Choyia Kay Baker. Now, she has been called home to be with him, Thursday, June 11, 2015. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Choyia Kay had touched in some small way throughout her life. Choyia Kay Baker was the pride and joy of Christine and Clarence Baker, born June 19, 1957 in Lubbock. Her parents were blessed to have had her in their life.Choyia Kay Baker lived with Christine Baker (mother) and Ila Mae Bebee (cousin) in Big Spring. She went to school at the Brenham State School in Brenham. She went to M.H.M.R. in Big Spring, where she loved to cheer, play basketball, participate in track and bowl with her friends. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing, watching funny movies and meeting new people. She will be missed by many friends and family.Choyia Kay is survived by her loving mother, Christine Baker of Big Spring; four aunts, Stella Wuemling of Irdel, Dorothy Leifest of San Angelo, Deanie and John Mckee of Bellville and Susan and Charlie Meier of Littlefield and by numerous cousins.She was preceded in death by her loving father, Clarence H. Baker; brother, Clifford (Wayne) Baker of Hempstead; grandparents, Guy and Mozell Baker of San Angelo, Emmitt Woods of Tacoma, Washington, and Bea Howerton of Hempstead; aunts, Joyce M. Becker of Big Spring and Pasty Jo Stockton of Chicotah, Oklahoma; and uncles, Robert Baker, E.C. Baker and David (Cotton) Baker of San Angelo.Although she is no longer dancing and singing with family and friends, she is dancing in the sky and singing in the angel’s choir. She was the joy of our lives. She will be greatly missed by her friends at the M.H.M.R. and her surrounding family. God has received one more angel.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM-7:00 PM, Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at the Hempstead City Cemetery in Hempstead.Local arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory of Big Spring.
