Chester H. Tieman died Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at the Hospice Inpatient Unit at Midland Memorial Hospital. A Masonic graveside service will be held Saturday, February 24, 2007 at 1:00 pm at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm, Friday, February 23, 2007 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory in Midland.Chester was born September 7, 1925 in Texarkana, Arkansas. He and his Mother returned to St. Louis, where he was raised and attended school. He entered the Navy on October 30, 1943 from St. Louis. After many months of extensive schooling, he was sent to a Torpedo Squadron, where he was a Torpedo bomber flying off the USS Hancock. He was discharged May 7, 1946. He moved to Dallas in 1947 where he worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone until his retirement on April 5, 1983. He met and married Frances Barron of Tyler, Texas on April 4, 1949. They moved to Midland in February of 1952.Survivors include Frances, his wife of 57 years and 10 ½ months; one daughter, Pennye and husband, Cedric Selby of Clayton, New Mexico; two granddaughters, Catherine and husband, Matthew Altman of Arlington and Rebecca and husband, Chris Robbins of Kuna, Idaho.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Midland, PO Box 2621, Midland, TX 79702 or Crestview Baptist Building Fund, 3300 Thomas Avenue, Midland, TX 79703.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
