Cherie Jeanne Holtzclaw, 80, of Midland left this world to join her parents and two older brothers in heaven on Monday, April 3, 2023. Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral Service will be at 10:00am, Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel, the service will also be livestreamed. Interment will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens.
Cherie was born Sept. 5, 1942, in Tyler, TX, to E.B. Boone and Era Woodson Boone. Cherie attended school in Snyder until her junior year in High School and then graduated from Midland High School in 1961. She attended Draughon’s Business College in Lubbock, TX.
Cherie married Carrol Wayne Holtzclaw in 1963. They had one child, Gregory Wayne, who was stillborn. Carrol was her best friend throughout her life. They had 59 years of happiness together. They loved to travel together and had friends join them on many of their adventures. During those adventures, the Sedona Six were formed. Cherie enjoyed cooking, reading, fishing, camping and scrapbooking.
Cherie was active in the Desk & Derrick Club of Midland. She and Carrol served as presidents of the Midland College Booster Club and were active in the international athletes’ lives and remained friends with many of them throughout the years.
Cherie was preceded in death by her parents and her two older brothers, Don Boone and Douglas Boone. She will be greatly missed by her husband Carrol Wayne Holtzclaw, her brother-in-law and wife, James and Kim Holtzclaw, her sisters-in-law, Winnie Boone and Betty Boone Smith, her nephew, Garry Boone, niece, Michelle Maurer and children, William Chappell and Chelsea Chappell, nephew, Lance Boone and children, Walker and Maggie Boone, and special friend, Janneke Garos.
