Charlotte H. Gilbert, 85, of Big Spring, died on Tuesday, December 2, 2008, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, December 5, 2008 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Ken McMeans, pastor of College Baptist Church, and grandson, Kevin Gilbert, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Charlotte was born on November 11, 1923, in Big Spring, Texas. She married Garland Gilbert and he preceded her in death on June 6, 1972.Charlotte may have been set in her ways but she dearly loved her grandchildren. She was a Blue Ribbon winner in quilting, needlepoint, and embroidery, and loved making things for her large family which she was so proud of. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.Survivors include two sons, James F. Gilbert and Galin Gilbert both of Big Spring; one daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Sonny Kinard of Big Spring; 19 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Alvin Gilbert and Grady Gilbert; two daughters, Irene Sinsel and Clara Richey; two grandchildren, Shelia Gilbert and David Sinsel; her parents; five brothers, and three sisters.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
