Charlotte Anne Barlow Myers was born in Atlanta, TX on April 22, 1942 to loving parents Aubrey and Dorothy Barlow. They adored her immensely, maybe even spoiled her a bit. When she was still very young they made their way to Roswell, NM where Charlotte grew up.
Visiting regularly were family from back east, including her grandmother, aunts and uncles, cousins. She often recalled those visits as something she loved most about her childhood. Charlotte was particularly close to her cousin Georgia, who ended up staying with them for over a year as a very young adult. Having been an only child, Charlotte came to see Georgia as the older sister she never had. They remained close.
In High School she sang in the school choir and served three years as an aide in the Office, where they grew fond of her for her diligent work and her happy demeanor. Her friends, who called her Char, awarded her a “Backseat Driver’s License. She remembered those times very fondly.
She became a follower of Jesus Christ in her younger years while attending the Baptist Church in Roswell. After meeting at college, she married Gary Myers on August 11, 1963. They made their lives in Eastern New Mexico, where their oldest son Byron Myers was born, making them a family of three. A few years later they settled in Midland where shortly thereafter their second son Dale Myers was born.
Having studied Education in college, she read to them early and often. After the boys were well into school, Charlotte started work at Midland Savings & Loan, beginning what became a long career working in banks, and even a good stretch at the FDIC. Charlotte retired several years ago and got to enjoy the laid-back life she wanted.
She was preceded in death by her parents Aubrey and Dorothy, along with many beloved cousins, and a couple of friends of many years. Left to cherish her memory are her son Byron Myers and his wife Kathy, along with their children Reed, Brailyn, and Taite. They spent a lot of time as kids with their Grammy, playing games and watching old favorite kids’ movies. She is also survived by her son Dale Myers.
Her family would like to thank the several who helped her walk through her last years, especially Helen from Angels Home Health and Kipi from Midland Hospice.
