Charles A. Smith, 85, of Midland, died on Thursday, April 8, 2010, at the Hospice Inpatient Unit at Midland Memorial Hospital. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Fairmont Park church of Christ with Bill Johnson and Don Mitchell, officiating. He was born on October 29, 1924, in Sweetwater and married Mary Lou Fry on July 17, 1950 in Houston.Charlie served in the United States Army, being drafted in 1943 for World War II. He loved nature and the great outdoors. He will always be remembered for his quick wit and his sharp sense of humor. His main focus in life was being a "Servant of Christ".Charlie was an elder & member of Fairmont Park Church of Christ.Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Smith of Midland; two daughters & sons-in-law, Charlsie & Randall McDonald of Denton and Julie & R.D. Lyons of Keller; one son & daughter-in-law, Carl & Teresa Smith of Hunter, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Charles McDonald, Mike McDonald, T.C. Smith, Rick Smith, Kimberly Smith, and Andrea Smith; and six great grandchildren, Lynna Sue, Addison, Stratton, Seamus, Ian, and Charlise.He was preceded in death by his parents, V.T. & Lucile Smith; and a brother, V.T.
