Charley Dishman, 63, of Midland, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at the Hospice Inpatient Unit of Midland Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 10, 2007 at the Golf Course Road Church of Christ in Midland with Pastor Tom Vermillion, officiating.Charley was born on July 4, 1943 to Ralph and Geneva Dishman in Long Beach, California. He married Laura Logan on August 21, 1992 in Lake Tahoe, NevadaCharley loved studying his bible and developed a close relationship with our Lord. He was a member of Mid-Cities Community Church. Charley graduated from Midland High School where he played basketball and was selected to the All-State 4A team and named the leagues most valuable player. He went on to play at the University of Texas and Hardin Simmons on a full scholarship where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration. He went to work for Texaco in 1967 and after 32 years of service he retired in 1999 as an Accounting Supervisor. He lived in the Midland community all his life where he loved playing golf at Ranchland Hills Golf Course and winning quarters from his buddies. Charley enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson. He was proud of his immaculate yard-work and keeping the neighborhood well kept.Survivors include his wife, Laura of Midland; a son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Amy Dishman of Missoula, Montana; a daughter, Melissa Wright of Missoula, Montana; a son, Scott Dishman of Austin; four grandchildren, Hannah and Kennedy Dishman and Nikolas and Catherine Wright; a brother-in-law, Jeff Logan of Long Beach, California; a cousin, Ron Biddy of Houston; and beloved pets Roxey and Rogan. He was preceded in death by his parents.Memorials may be made to Hospice of Midland – Inpatient Unit, PO Box 2621, Midland, TX 79702. For as far back as I can remember, my father (Phil Holtkort) & Charley were good friends, who worked many years together at Texaco. The last time I saw Charley was unfortunately at my Dad's funeral a little over a year ago. Charley had a dear friend waiting for him as he entered heaven. I'm so sorry for your family's loss. Charley, you know I always loved you and loved Laura once you married her. I'm so thankful you found GOD and know you are probably trying to teach him to ride a Harley or play golf! Bless you heart Laura, you are in my thoughts and prayers always!

I was deeply saddened by Charlie's passing. He was a great Guy and Boss. I tried to make it to Midland, but my truck broke down on the way. God Bless Laura.

CHARLEY WILL BE MISSED AT RANCHLAND. HE WAS A LITTLE DRY FOR SOME, BUT ALWAYS THE SAME. HE GAVE ME A HARD TIME ALL THE TIME ABOUT WEARING SHORTS. LAURA, I AM TRULY SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS AND IF THERE IS ANYTHING I CAN EVER DO FOR YOU LET ME KNOW. YOU ARE IN MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS.

My deepest sympathies with Laura and the rest of the Family. Charlie helped SO much with my golf to keep me from the hacker I was destined to become. I will always treasures those afternoons with the pilot group! I know he's already lining someone else out as he did with me on the golf course up there in heaven!

Laura, I am so sorry for your loss. I didn't know Charley very well but I know from Dad that he was a sweet man and a good friend. Dad is going to miss him terribly. I pray that God will wrap his arms around you and keep you close.

Laura and family: I was very sorry to here of Charleys' passing. I did not know Charley as well as those who worked directly with him in Midland but spent a considerable time in the Midland Office. Charley, you will be missed, but you will be in good company with Byron Nelson,and several others. Take it easy on them,pro, and I hope to join you on our Hogs someday. Preston Taylor

Charlie was as fine of a high school basketball playeer as God ever put on this earth. Several years back at a MHS reunion a sportscaster from Denver came to Charlie, Ron Peavy and me and said people come to him about who were the greatest b-ball shooters (Jordan, Miller,) and he said they never saw Dishman shoot in Midland. Charlie's chest almost burst and Peavy and I almost threw up!!! Charlie, Ron Peavy, the late Jody Black (Gunner Jr., Charlie was the original gunner) and I almost did not graduate due to our Sr. skit. Oh for those days when we were young. Rest in peace my friend and God now has the greatest shooter of all time in heaven. Glenn Whittington
