Charles Wrenn Hyde, 80 of Midland, died Wednesday, January 3, 2018 after a courageous battle with COPD.Charles was born in North Carolina on January 10, 1937 to Thomas C Hyde Jr. and Margaret Pauline Dobbin Hyde. He grew up in Kannapolis, N.C. and graduated from Landis High School in 1955. He graduated from Lenoir Rhyme College in Hickory, N.C. with a degree of history.After serving his country in the Army as a military policeman in Germany, he returned to Kamapolis, N.C.He started working in the finance business and worked for various financial institutions until retirement. He was an active sports fan and enjoyed a competitive game of Hol-dem poker, participating in many tournaments.He was married to Anneliese M. Parschat for 59 years. Charles is survived by his wife Annelise M. Hyde, two sons, Mark A. Hyde and his wife Andra Hyde, Christian C. Hyde, two beloved grandchildren, Aliese M. Reus and husband Josh Reus, and William G. Hyde; two brothers, Rudy Dobbin Hyde and Randy Cowan Hyde, and numerous cousins, relatives, and friends.Charles is preceded in death by his father Thomas C. Hyde Jr., and mother Margaret Pauline Dobbin Hyde and his brother Barry E. Hyde, and his only sister Lesia Caldwell.There will be a graveside service at Resthaven Memorial Park at 2 pm on Monday January 8, 2018. Pastor Bob Bardnt of Midland Lutheran Church will give the spiritual service. A dear friend Charlotte (Charlie) May – Massey will sing Amazing Grace. There will be a reception with a light fare at The Branch at Nalley-Pickle & Welch, 3800 N Big Spring St, following the service.Memorials and donations may be given to Hospice of Midland or a charity of your choice.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
