Charles Suthard Gibbs, 83, died January 5, 2016. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, January 8, 2016 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel.Charles Gibbs was born on March 4, 1932 to Benny and Sarah Gibbs in Haskell, Texas. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a hot oil operator before retiring with Gandy Corp after 30 years of service in Lovington, New Mexico. He moved to Midland in 1998 where he worked as a crosswalk guard for over 10 years – first at St. Ann’s School and lastly at Ben Milam Elementary School.He is survived by the love of his life, Betty Nelson; his brother, Benny Gibbs of Stamford, Texas; sister, Mary Ann Elrod of Lubbock, Texas; daughters, Elizabeth (Leroy) Peterson of Midland, Texas and Charlene Perrin of Lovington, New Mexico; grandchildren, Paige (Michael) Evans, Jon Mark Peterson both of Midland, Texas; Nathan (Erin) Gibbs of Hobbs, New Mexico; Ashley (Jeremy) Speers of Camden, Arkansas; and Chelsey (Jackie) Carrier of Midland, Texas; and eleven great-grandchildren.Charles is preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Breaking Bread Kitchen, P.O.
