Charles H. Moore II, 73, a loving husband, father, and grandfather passed after a yearlong battle with cancer on November 30, 2014 at home with his family in Midland. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, December 5, 2014 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel. Charles was born in San Angelo, Texas on March 20th 1941 to the parents Charles “Red” and Jean Weingartner Moore. Growing up his family followed the Humble Oil seismic crew through West Texas and New Mexico and eventually set solid roots in Midland. He was a graduate of Midland High School and studied physics at Texas Tech University and the University of Texas at Austin. He went on to start his own electronic business out of the back garage workshop of his parents’ house. That business grew into Audio Video Pro which remained in business for 45 years.Charles married Betty Melzer in 1966. They actually celebrated the same birthday of March 20th every year for more than 47 years. Both growing up in Midland together, Charles and Betty also enjoyed celebrating high school reunions and a social group called the Moonshiners.He had a vast understanding of everything scientific including medicine, biology, mechanics, electronics, geology, engineering, and electrical systems. He loved to tinker with things and thoroughly enjoyed using and showing off the tools he had collected to fix and improved just about everything and anything.He is survived by his wife, Betty Melzer Moore, his two brothers Eric Moore (Brenham, TX) and John Moore (Austin, TX). He is also survived by his daughter, Dr. Heidi Moore and her husband, Jeff Henderson (Bastrop, TX). Additionally he is survived by his son, Trey Moore and his wife, Becki Adams Moore (Katy, TX) along with their children Charlie (5), Henry (3), and Molly (2).In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make memorial donations to Hospice of Midland.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory.
