Charles L. Lee, 91, of Midland, passed away on April 28, 2015 peacefully at his home with his family at his bedside. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Weches, Texas.Charles was born on October 4, 1923 in Concord, Texas to Edgar and Alma Lee.In 1942, Charles enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served as a pilot during World War II and the Korean War. He retired from the United States Air Force as a Major in 1962. After military service, he was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration and was a member of the National Association of Air Traffic Specialists. After retiring from the F.A.A., Charles worked as a contractor for the National Weather Service in the Dallas, Fort Worth area.Charles married in 1946 to Charlie Fay Mullins of Weches, Texas and had four children. They lived in Bedford, Texas for many years before Charles moved to Midland.He is survived by his son, Charles B. Lee of Smithville, TX; daughter, Melinda (Lindy) Larson of Midland, TX; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Polly Gatlin and June Cook.He is preceded in death by his wife, Charlie Fay Mullins; son, David Lovell Lee; and daughter, Cynthia Ann Lee.The family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice of Midland and to all the people of Midland that called him “Friend.”In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Salvation Army and the Autism Society of Greater Austin.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home of Midland.
