Charles Horne Priddy, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2015. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 3:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church in Midland with Dr. Steve Schorr officiating.He was born on October 25, 1925 in Wichita Falls, TX, to Walter and Swannanoa Priddy. Charles, graduated from Wichita Falls high school in 1943 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He attended the University of Texas in the Navy V-12 program and graduated in 1945 with a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering.He attended Harvard Business School and graduated in 1948 with his MBA. After college he worked as a petroleum engineer for Humble Oil and Refining Company (now Exxon) until 1952 at which time he resigned to become a consulting petroleum engineer.Since 1952 he has been recognized as a major force in leading the Republican Revolution in Texas. When he was younger he received the Junior Chamber award as Midland’s outstanding young man of the year 1960. In 1978 Mr. Priddy was awarded The Texas Industrial Developer of the year. He served as President of El Cinco Oil Production Company, Magnatex Corporation, the Midland Chamber of Commerce, the Midland Country Club and the Midland YMCA. He was Chairman of United Way, founder of the Midland Area Foundation, was on the UTPB Development Board and was instrumental in bringing the University of Texas of the Permian Basin to west Texas, on the board of directors of Citizen Savings and Loan, Commercial Bank and Trust, the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners and Texas Research League.Charles was on the Board of Governors of the Midland Memorial Hospital. He also served as chairman of the objectives for Midland 80s program and was a founder of Original Town, LTD. whose purpose was downtown rejuvenation in Midland resulting in the Midland Center. In addition, he developed the Saddle Club subdivisions in Midland.Charles is preceded in death by his wife, Beth Priddy, son, Bob Priddy and step-son, Rick Henderson.He is survived by his three children: Barbara Clark and her husband John of Dallas; Walter Priddy and his wife Kim of Dallas; and Charles Priddy Jr. Step-daughter Susan Askins. Grandchildren, Amanda Eagle George and husband Chris of Dallas, Katharine Priddy McAden and husband Kyle of Austin, Whitney Priddy Icenhauer and husband Mike of Austin, Kristen Priddy of California and Joslyn Priddy of California. Step-grandchildren: Kendall Smith and her husband Rusty of Midland, Mason Askins of Midland, Cooper Askins and his wife Stephanie of Austin, great-grandchildren: William McAden and Avery McAden; and step-great-grandchildren: Presley Miller, Elizabeth Ann and Collins Smith, Elliot and Forrest Askins. He is also survived by sister in law, Kathryn Priddy of Dallas and Mildred Johnston of Longview; and his long time assistant, Yvonne Scarbrough.The family would like to especially thank many special caregivers including Ada Heller, Leticia Peralas, Stephanie, Lisa and Crystal and Hospice of Midland.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to: The Charles H.
